Victory in the Valley! U13s Defend 88 in Buxworth Thriller

It was a nail-biter at Buxworth as our Under 13s managed to defend a modest total in a display of bowling discipline that would make a drill sergeant weep with joy. After posting 88-8 from our 20 overs, the morale in the pavilion was ‘cautiously optimistic’—which is local code for 'we need a miracle and a very large tea.' However, the miracle arrived in the form of a suffocating bowling performance. Despite Buxworth having plenty of wickets in hand, our youngsters turned the pitch into a fortress, restricting the hosts to just 77 runs from their full quota. It wasn’t exactly a run-fest, but as they say in the lower leagues, they all count the same in the scorebook! While we didn’t have any century-makers to boast about today, the collective effort to squeeze the life out of the Buxworth chase was a masterclass in 'dot ball' pressure. A 11-run victory away from home is the perfect tonic for the midweek blues. We march on, clutching our winning match fees and leaving Buxworth wondering how they let that one slip. If anyone needs us, we’ll be practicing our celebratory 'dab' in the nets.
