Nail-Biter at Charlesworth: U13s in Tense Tussle with Chapel

The tension at Charlesworth is currently thick enough to cut with a discarded willow, as our Under 13s find themselves in a proper Division B nail-biter against Chapel-en-le-Frith. At the time of filing this report from the boundary edge, the game remains precariously poised 'in progress', though the visitors have set a target that will require every ounce of local grit to overhaul. Chapel posted a respectable 112 for 7 from their 20 overs, a total that would have been significantly higher had it not been for the clinical intervention of Rohan Wood. Rohan was in inspired form with the cherry, finishing his spell with magnificent figures of 2-6, effectively putting the brakes on the Chapel charge just as they looked to accelerate. Our reply has been a slightly stuttering affair, currently sitting at 77 for 5 after 19 overs. With the run rate climbing and the shadows lengthening, it’s going to take some late-order heroics to bridge the gap. We’ve still got wickets in the shed and hope in our hearts, but the scoreboard is starting to look a little stern. Whether we clinch a dramatic victory or fall just short, the boys have put in a shift. If anyone sees the groundsman, tell him to hold off on the heavy roller—we might need a miracle instead!
