Tantalising Tintwistle Trip Ends in Narrow Defeat for Under 13s

The Under 13s made the short trip to Tintwistle this week, but alas, the local bragging rights stayed firmly with the hosts. In a contest that saw more grit than a snowbound driveway, our young charges fell 19 runs short in their pursuit of victory. Tintwistle set a target of 98, a total that looked increasingly imposing as our batters struggled to find the boundary rope in the U13 Division B clash. Setting the pace early on, the opposition reached 98-4 from their allotted 20 overs. Our bowling attack remained disciplined, however, and refused to let the game drift into a total blowout. Jacob Berry was the undeniable star with the ball, tearing through the top order to finish with impressive figures of 2-11. His spells were the cricketing equivalent of a cold shower for the Tintwistle openers—sharp, sudden, and ultimately very refreshing for the travelling support. In reply, we managed a steady 79-8, showing plenty of heart but just lacking the explosive finish required to overhaul the target. While we didn't quite scale the mountain this time, the spirit remained high and the whites remained (relatively) clean. We’ll be back, hopefully with slightly heavier bats and a bit more luck in the middle. At least the tea was decent, though a win would have made it taste much sweeter!
