Deadlock at the Festival: Ladies 1st XI Share the Spoils!

In a finish more dramatic than the final episode of a Sunday night soap, our Ladies 1st XI Softball side played out a pulsating tie against Old Glossop CC at the Glossop Women's Softball Festival. Neutral fans were delighted; our nerves, however, are currently being held together by nothing more than hope and a stiff post-match gin. With the sun beating down on our hallowed turf, both sides traded blows in a masterclass of softball skill. Every desperate dive in the field and every swinging boundary felt like the turning point, yet neither side could quite land the knockout punch. It was a game of cat and mouse where both teams ended up sharing the cheese. While we’d normally claim a tactical masterstroke led to the dead heat, it was simply a case of two well-matched sides refusing to blink. Our ladies showed tremendous spirit in the field, proving that even when we don't win, we remain impossibly difficult to beat. Honours even, then, as we head into the next round of the festival. We’ll take the point, but we’re keeping the bragging rights for the better-looking kit. A tie is technically undefeated, right? That’s our story and we’re sticking to it.
