Social Team Stand Tall as Gnomads Fall Short at Home

The Gnomads may wander, but they found no comfort at our place this week as the Social Team cruised to a comprehensive eight-wicket victory. Despite the visitors' best efforts to build a foundation, our bowlers kept them on a remarkably short leash, restricting them to a modest 99 for 3 from their allotted 20 overs. It was a disciplined display that left the Gnomads feeling a little less 'gnomadic' and a lot more stationary under the summer sun. Chasing a target of 100, our boys didn't hang about. We reached the halfway mark in under ten overs, bolstered by a healthy dose of extras from our generous guests. David Whitney was the pick of the bunch, anchoring the pursuit with a classy 27 that ensured there would be no late-innings jitters. We crossed the line with over three overs to spare, proving that while we enjoy the 'social' aspect of the game, we aren't half bad at the cricket bit either. Special mention must go to the Gnomads' Theo and Creepy for their fifty-partnership, but even their stoic resistance couldn't derail the Charlesworth juggernaut. We headed to the bar with heads held high and whites mostly clean. If winning is this easy, we might have to start taking it seriously—but let’s not get ahead of ourselves just yet!
