Miller and Kassim Masterclass Seals Social Team Success!

Call the local paparazzi and alert the engravers: the Social Team have actually gone and done it! In a display of cricketing prowess that occasionally threatened to look professional, the boys secured a dominant seven-wicket victory over Moss Hey. After early mutterings that we might be more interested in the post-match refreshments, the Social Team proved they can indeed play a bit, chasing down the target with nearly three overs to spare. The afternoon began with a bowling masterclass from Andrew Miller, who tore through the Moss Hey ranks like a man who had left the oven on at home. Claiming 3-9 from his spell, Miller ensured the visitors were kept to a modest 94-7. Moss Hey struggled to find any real rhythm, eventually limping to their total thanks in part to a generous helping of 17 extras from our charitable bowlers. When it was our turn to wield the willow, the pursuit was steady and assured. Imran Kassim anchored the innings with a classy 28, dispatching the ball with the kind of grace rarely seen on a Sunday afternoon. We reached the fifty-mark in exactly ten overs and never looked back, strolling to 96-3 in the 18th over. Judging by Miller’s figures, he’s probably already writing his own statue dedication, but for now, we’ll just settle for another round at the bar.
