Bramley Bites Back as Charlesworth Clip Dintings Wings!

On a night where the tension was thicker than the local pub's Sunday gravy, our Twenty20 warriors managed to pilfer a victory from the clutches of Dinting CC. In a match that swung more than a rusty garden gate, Charlesworth emerged triumphant despite a late surge from the visitors that had the home faithful checking their heart rates. Batting first, the lads stuttered to a total of 129 for 6. Cooper Bramley was the glue holding the innings together with a gritty 34, while the Dinting bowlers generously gifted us 23 extras—a level of hospitality we truly appreciated. We reached the century mark in the 17th over, setting a target that felt competitive but certainly not comfortable. Dinting’s chase looked to be stalling until a frantic 4th wicket partnership between Townley and Irons put them back in the hunt, smashing 50 runs in just 29 balls. However, our bowlers held their nerve under the floodlights (or whatever passes for lighting in the North), restricting them to 123 despite them having wickets in hand. A win is a win, even if we had to chew our fingernails to the quick to get there. One assumes the Dinting lads will be dreaming of those missing six runs tonight, while we’ll be dreaming of the next round. History is written by the winners, and tonight, the ink is definitely purple and gold!
