Under 13s Pull Off Great Tintwistle Heist!

In a match that aged the supporting parents by at least a decade, our Under 13s pulled off a heist at Tintwistle that would make Robin Hood blush. Despite scoring fewer runs than the opposition, Charlesworth emerged victorious by virtue of taking nearly twice as many wickets in a chaotic twenty-over shootout. It was cricket, Jim, but not as we know it. Setting a modest target of 81, the innings was anchored by the ever-reliable Alf Grue. His gritty 21 was worth its weight in post-match lemonade, providing the backbone for a total that initially looked about as safe as a chocolate teapot. However, our boys clearly decided that if they couldn't outscore them, they’d simply out-bowl them. The defence was led by the clinical Dominic Troznai, who ripped through the Tintwistle ranks with figures of 2-11. The hosts technically finished on 83, but with nine wickets down compared to our five, the Charlesworth lads celebrated a famous win under the peculiar rules of the U13 North competition. It wasn't always pretty, and the scorebook looks like a toddler’s finger painting, but a win is a win. We'll take the points and head home before the local authorities investigate how we stole that one!
