Grit and Grue as U13s Fall Short Against Old Glossop

The sun was shining at home, but Old Glossop clearly brought their big-hitting boots, leaving our Under 13s staring down a daunting total in this U13 North clash. The visitors plundered 148 runs, proving that luck—and a fair few boundaries—were firmly on their side. Despite the mountain to climb, the Charlesworth spirit remained as bubbly as a freshly opened lemonade. The bowling effort was spearheaded by the clinical Rohan Wood, who was in absolutely inspired form. Rohan ripped through the Old Glossop ranks to claim 3-15, providing a masterclass in line and length that had the opposition tentative for at least a few overs. Under the circumstances, his spell was nothing short of heroic, giving the home crowd plenty to cheer about between the boundary barrages. In response, our chase never quite found its fifth gear, finishing on 81-4 after our allotted 20 overs. Alf Grue was the standout with the willow, anchoring the innings with a gritty and stylish 25. While we couldn't bridge the gap this time, the boys played with a straight bat and smiles on their faces. We’ll be back stronger next week—hopefully with a slightly larger boundary for the other lot!
