Johnson’s Joy and Edwards’ Edge: U11s Conquer Broadbottom!

In a contest more gripping than a new pair of wicket-keeping gloves, the Under 11A boys emerged victorious away at Broadbottom. It was a classic "North" derby that saw our lads defend a modest total with the kind of grit usually reserved for clearing the club sheep off the square. Batting first, the Charlesworth innings was held together by a masterclass from Thomas Johnson. While wickets tumbled around him like falling dominoes, Thomas dispatched anything loose to the boundary, crafting a superb 38 that proved to be the bedrock of our 96-run total. Without his steady hand, we might have been defending a score more suited to a game of darts. When it came to the second half, our bowling attack turned the screw. Louis Edwards was the pick of the bunch, tearing through the Broadbottom top order with figures of 2-10. His clinical spell ensured the hosts never quite found their rhythm, eventually restricted to 80 runs as we wrapped up a hard-fought win. A superb team effort all round, though Thomas might find himself buying the lemonade after that knock. Onwards and upwards, as we continue to show the league that Charlesworth grit is second to none!
