Newton Neutralised! Under 11s March on After Johnson Masterclass

It seems the air in Newton is particularly conducive to Charlesworth excellence, as our Under 11A stars returned from their travels with a comprehensive victory and their heads held high. Defending a competitive total in the Under 11 North clash, our young heroes proved that they are as clinical as a freshly starched umpire’s coat. The foundation of the victory was built on a batting masterclass from Thomas Johnson. Thomas played with the poise of a seasoned pro, dispatching the Newton trundlers to all corners of the ground for a brilliant 35. His efforts helped propel the side to a formidable 104-4 after our sixteen overs, leaving the hosts needing more than a bit of luck to chase it down. Newton’s response was quickly stifled by some devilish bowling, led by the irrepressible Louis Edwards. Louis was in no mood for generosity, snaring 2 wickets for just 14 runs in a spell that sucked the life out of the opposition chase. Newton eventually limped to 70-5, falling 34 runs short of our majestic tally. A superb team performance all round, proving that while Newton might have the gravity, Charlesworth definitely has the talent. We’ll be celebrating this one with an extra scoop of celebratory ice cream—strictly for medicinal purposes, of course!
