Stags Stun Charlesworth in Tight Tussle at Home

The sun was out, the grass was green, but alas, the scoreboard was a little less kind to our Under 11A heroes this week. In a spirited clash at home, the Marple CC Stags managed to leapfrog our local lads, securing a victory with a defendable total of 68. Despite holding them to five wickets and keeping the run rate under control, the target proved just a few bowls of porridge too many for our hungry batters. The chase started with plenty of intent, but we ultimately ran out of runway, finishing on 51-3 after our allocated 16 overs. While we didn't quite find the boundary enough to overhaul the Stags, the discipline in the middle was remarkable—only losing three wickets shows a level of stubbornness that would make a mule proud. The highlight of the afternoon undoubtedly belonged to Thomas Johnson, who turned individual brilliance into an art form. Thomas tore through the Marple ranks to claim figures of 2-1, a bowling spell so frugal it’s rumored he’s been headhunted by the local accounting firm. If only we could bottle that accuracy and sell it at the tea hut! We take the defeat on the chin, safe in the knowledge that while Marple took the points, our social media game remains undefeated. Onwards and upwards!
