Courage and Close Calls: U11s Give New Mills a Sunday Scare

The history books might say we were a few days late with this report, but talent like this deserves the wait! Our Under 11A squad faced off against a sturdy New Mills side on Sunday, ultimately falling short by 21 runs. It was a high-scoring affair that saw the visitors post 207 for 3, while our brave young Charlesworth side gallantly chased their way to 186 for 5. The fielding performance started with a bang, as sharp eyes and quick hands led to two spectacular run outs in the very first over—talk about setting the standard! Thomas then got in on the action with a peach of a delivery to claim a third wicket, clean bowled. On the batting side, things started a little more cautiously. While we saw some lovely strokes, a few avoidable run outs held back our momentum. It’s nothing a bit of extra practice in the nets won't fix! A massive shout-out must go to our youngest warriors, Henry G and Freddy R, who stepped up to help the team. They handled the pressure like seasoned pros and will undoubtedly go from strength to strength after this experience. We are incredibly proud of the whole team's spirit.
