Rain Saves Broadbottom from 3rd XI Masterclass

In a shocking turn of events that certainly had nothing to do with the Great British weather and everything to do with the universe fearing our 3rd XI’s raw power, Sunday’s clash against Broadbottom CC was cancelled before a single cherry was polished. Fans who flocked to the ground expecting a Development League masterclass were instead met with the tranquil, wicket-free silence of an empty square. Broadbottom’s 4th XI return home with their dignity and their averages perfectly intact, finishing on 0-0 after 0.0 overs. It was a bowling performance of supreme economy from Charlesworth; not a single wide was conceded, and our fielders didn't drop a solitary catch—mostly because they were likely at home nursing a brew and watching the rain lash against the windowpane. While we missed the chance to blood our rising stars, we remain undefeated for the weekend. We can’t say we’ve mastered the art of batting just yet, but we’ve certainly mastered the art of the abandoned fixture. Onwards to next week, where we hope the only thing being poured is a celebratory pint in the pavilion rather than half the Atlantic Ocean onto the outfield.
