Setting a competitive target of 166, the Charlesworth lads displayed grit and flair. Toby Tanton was the undisputed star with the willow, agonisingly close to a half-century as he top-scored with a commanding 49. While the innings was bolstered by a flurry of extras, Toby’s composure set the foundation for a dominant display. The New Mills reply never truly left the station, largely due to a bowling masterclass from Woody. In a spell that defied logic, Woody produced figures of 2 wickets for just 2 runs across 5 overs, including 4 maidens. This stifling accuracy crippled the opposition’s run rate, leaving them stranded well short on 102. Finlay Loveday also made significant inroads with the ball, returning figures of 3-41 to keep the visitors under the thumb. It wasn't all smooth sailing, as the team had to battle through adversity when Andrew picked up a painful injury during the match.
