Chapel Chased Out as Charlesworth Ladies Cruise to Victory

The sun was out, the Prosecco was chilling, and our Ladies 1st XI Softball stars were in no mood for hospitality as they dispatched Chapel-en-le-Frith with a clinical 38-run victory. In a division that demands grit and flair, the Charlesworth contingent brought both in bundles, ensuring the home turf remains a fortress of fun and formidable hitting. The opposition wobbled early and never quite found their rhythm, finishing their 16 overs on a modest 70 for 4. Our bowlers were as tight as a brand-new pair of whites, refusing to grant the Chapel batters any width and keeping the scoreboard ticking over slower than a Sunday morning lie-in. It was a masterclass in disciplined line and length that left the visitors frantically searching for the boundary rope. When it was our turn to wield the willow, the ladies put on a show. Striding to a commanding 108 for 4, they played with the kind of freedom usually reserved for the post-match BBQ. While the wickets were shared equally between the sides, our superior strike rotation and occasional lusty blows made the difference. It was a comprehensive performance that cements our place as the team to watch in Division 2. A cracking result for the club, even if the Chapel ladies spent more time chasing the ball than they did hitting it. We’ll see you at the bar!
