Softball Stars Sizzle: Ladies Secure Glorious Grove Victory!

In a display of sheer diamond-standard dominance, the Ladies 1st XI marched into Hazel Grove and emerged with a 21-run victory that smelled sweeter than the post-match prosecco. Defending 94 runs off their 16 overs, our girls proved that you don't need a hard ball to put the squeeze on the opposition. The Charlesworth innings was a masterclass in controlled aggression, posting a formidable target despite losing five wickets along the way. While Hazel Grove tried to make a fight of it, losing only two wickets in their reply, they simply couldn't find the boundary ropes often enough to keep up with the required rate. Our bowlers kept things tighter than a new pair of flannels, restricting the hosts to a modest 73. It was a professional performance across the board, with the fielding unit buzzing louder than a stray wasp at a picnic. The victory cements our status as the team to beat in DCCL Division 2, proving that while we might play softball, we’re anything but a soft touch. The ladies return home with the points in the bag and their heads held high. If we keep playing like this, the opposition will be asking for a refund on their tea!
