Bramley’s Six-Star Show Not Quite Enough in Tintwistle Thriller

It was a low-scoring thriller away at Tintwistle that left our hearts in our mouths and our fingernails chewed to the quick. Ultimately, the hosts limped over the line by two wickets, but not before Charlesworth gave them a fright that will surely haunt their dreams for weeks to come. Setting a target of 108 felt a bit like bringing a butter knife to a sword fight, but Steve Leech clearly didn't get the memo. His valiant 41 was a masterclass in defiance while the rest of the order seemed to be in a frantic rush to sample the local hospitality. It wasn't the biggest total in club history, but it gave our bowlers a sniff of blood. Enter Cooper Bramley, who turned the second innings into his own private theatre of destruction. Cooper tore through the Tintwistle lineup like a hungry fox in a hen house, bagging a sensational 6-54. He had the opposition dancing to his tune and, for a glorious moment, an improbable heist looked to be on the cards. Alas, Tintwistle managed to scramble the final runs with eight down, denying us a legendary comeback. We’ll take the moral victory for the sheer drama, though we suspect the Tintwistle tail-enders will be sleeping with the lights on after that Bramley barrage. Onwards to next week!
