Kerridge Climb Too Steep for Striving Seconds

It was a character-building afternoon in the shadow of White Nancy as our 2nd XI found Kerridge’s first-team hospitality a little too clinical for comfort. Despite a spirited effort in the field, the hosts marched to 204 all out, leaving us with a mountain to climb that felt steeper than the local topography. Zohaib Mehmood was the undisputed star with the cherry, tearing through the Kerridge ranks to claim a superb 4-49. His spell provided the bite we needed, ensuring the target didn’t wander into the realms of pure fantasy. Unfortunately, our reply never quite caught fire, stumbling to 118 all out under some relentless Division 3 pressure. Tom Greenwood offered the most resistance with a gritty 26, playing a few shots that deserved a much larger audience (and perhaps a few more partners). Alas, the wickets tumbled faster than a clumsy fielder on a wet slope, and we headed back to the clubhouse having been thoroughly 'Kerridged'. We’ll take the points from Zohaib’s heroics and move on; after all, even the finest vintage needs a bit of time to settle in the cellar.
