Sarge-ant Major! David's Six-Wicket Haul Blitzes Chapel

In a display of grit that would make a Yorkshireman weep with joy, our 2nd XI marched into Chapel-en-le-Frith and left with all the spoils. Defending a total of 130 after being bundled out in the 39th over, things felt a little tight, but the boys clearly had a reservation at the pub they weren't willing to miss. Earlier in the day, Dave Smith was the glue holding our innings together. His patient and crucial 42 provided the backbone of our 130 runs, a score that looked 'sporting' at best, but turned out to be a mountain Chapel simply couldn't climb. Once we got the ball in hand, it became the 'David Sergeant Show'. In a devastating spell of bowling that looked more like an extended highlights reel, he tore through the opposition ranks to claim remarkable figures of 6-24. Chapel-en-le-Frith were skittled for 75 in just over 24 overs, looking entirely bamboozled by Sergeant’s mastery. A comprehensive victory away from home that proves once again: why bother scoring 300 when David Sergeant can just take six wickets and get us all to the bar early? Same again next week, lads!
