Finn Foundations as Shrigley Sunk by Second XI!

A delightful afternoon at home saw our 2nd XI dismantle Pott Shrigley with the clinical efficiency of a man avoiding his turn at the tea-prep. Despite the visitors reaching a solid 50-0, the wheels didn't just come off; they bolted for the boundary as Finn Allen decided he’d seen quite enough of their opening partnership. The young magician turned the game on its head, tearing through the middle order to finish with a spectacular 5-18. Shrigley went from cruising to gasping for air, eventually skittled for 103 in 35.4 overs. It was the kind of collapse that makes you check the weather for an early pub opening, and Finn was the undisputed architect of their demise. Our reply was a relative skip in the park. Danny Miller (36) and Dave Smith got the engine running with a 50-run opening stand that essentially broke the Shrigley spirit. We romped to the target in just 22.4 overs for the loss of only two wickets. It turns out that when you bowl teams out for a pittance, the batting feels a lot more like a holiday. With the points in the bag and the sun shining, it was a vintage day for the 2nd XI. If Finn Allen keeps bowling like that, we might actually start believing we know what we’re doing!
