Crookall's Five-Star Show Cut Short as Clouds Rescue Grove

If you enjoy your cricket served with a side of aquatic survival, Hazel Grove was the place to be this Saturday. In a match that eventually succumbed to the heavens, the 2nd XI escaped with a rain-affected draw after a batting performance that could best be described as 'minimalist'. We were bundled out for a modest 50 runs in 29.3 overs, proving that our boys certainly know how to make a small score last—103 minutes of grim determination, to be precise. However, once we got the ball in our hands, the script flipped entirely. William Crookall was in a mood, tearing through the Grove's top order to claim a magnificent 5-wicket haul (finishing with figures of 5-16). Not to be outdone, Ella Kassim provided the perfect foil, snagging 3-14 as the hosts wobbled precariously at 33-7. Just as we were sniffing a miraculous victory against the odds, the Mancunian clouds decided they had seen enough. The rain arrived to save Hazel Grove from certain doom, leaving us to wonder what might have been. At least we can say our bowling attack is officially more dangerous than a summer thunderstorm. We'll take the points and head for the dry sanctuary of the clubhouse bar!
